Twisha Sharma Death Case: Husband Samarth Singh Arrested, Probe Intensifies
The investigation into the death of model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma has entered a crucial stage after Bhopal Police arrested her husband Samarth Singh following days of search operations and legal proceedings.
Samarth Singh, who had been absconding since the case surfaced earlier this month, was taken into custody from the Jabalpur court premises after reportedly attempting to surrender. Police later brought him to Bhopal for questioning and medical examination. Officials are now expected to seek custodial remand for further interrogation.
What Happened in the Case?
Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old woman originally from Noida, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, just a few months after her marriage. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, mental torture and foul play.
Police initially stated that preliminary findings pointed toward suicide. However, the case sparked nationwide attention after Twisha’s family raised concerns over alleged procedural lapses and demanded an independent investigation.
Second Post-Mortem and CBI Probe
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has allowed a second autopsy in the matter as scrutiny over the investigation increased. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government has recommended transferring the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Authorities have also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine allegations related to dowry death and harassment.
CCTV Footage and Investigation
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage linked to Twisha Sharma’s final hours. Reports suggest she visited a salon shortly before returning home on the day of the incident. Other CCTV clips reportedly show activity inside the residence before she was taken to hospital.
The case has generated intense public discussion on social media, with many users demanding a transparent investigation due to the alleged influence of the accused family. However, several claims circulating online remain unverified and are still under investigation.
Bar Council Action
In a separate development, the Bar Council of India suspended Samarth Singh from legal practice amid the ongoing investigation.
Police officials say further questioning and forensic analysis will play a key role in determining the exact circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
